Mark Copsey, previously MacAndrews’ Iberia/Baltic Trade Manager, has been appointed General Manager, Short Sea Trades, reporting to Managing Director Geoff Smith.
“Mark’s appointment is an important step in the development of our strategic plan for the Iberia/Baltic and eastern European regions”, Geoff Smith comments. “We believe the economic prospects and potential for increased cargo in these regions will be transformed over the next few years, following accession to the EU by most of the eastern European states.
“Increased sourcing of a wide range of consumer products in eastern Europe has begun to change the pattern of European logistics. So for many shippers, short-sea shipping is becoming more attractive and competitive compared with road transport.
“MacAndrews has established a major presence in these markets, offering a wide range of intermodal services. The restructuring of our Short Sea department is designed to enhance our service to customers and will enable us to make the most of the opportunities offered by the expanding container logistics market in these regions.”
