Evergreen America Corporation, North America agents for Evergreen, Hatsun Marine and Lloyd Triestino, has signed an agreement on behalf of all three carriers to join the US Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT).
Evergreen America Corp has been involved in C-TPAT from the beginning of the process through the World Shipping Council and its participation on the Security Committee and working with all US Government agencies developing security legislation since the terrorist attacks of 11 September, 2001. The agreement was signed by Evergreen America Corp President, Thomas Chen, who stated:
"With ships that carry cargo to and from every corner of the globe, we must be committed to worldwide diligence for stricter cargo container security.
"It is important for our importers and exporters, our people ashore and afloat, those who handle our ships and containers, and the consumers of the world to know that every possible step is being taken to ensure their safety."
All carriers involved in C-TPAT must complete a Customs "Sea Carrier Supply Chain Security Profile Questionnaire" which asks them to present an overview of their existing security program.
